What is CivilScape News?

CivilScape News (CSN) is a construction data service with a narrow focus on parks, recreation, athletic, and aquatic projects. We track projects from the conceptual/early planning stage through design development and contractor bidding. Our subscribers include Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Manufacturers and Suppliers. We are located in Chicago, IL and have been in business since 2012.

What States do you cover?

AL, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, NC, OH, OK, TN, TX, VA, WI. Additional states will be added. Please feel free to request project coverage in any state not currently listed.

Where do your projects come from?

Projects are gathered from government agencies, public notices, grant applications and awards, newspaper articles, city council meetings, planning and zoning documents, municipal budgets, plan rooms and various other sources. All project leads are thoroughly researched and confirmed by our in- house reporting staff.

How much does it cost?

Subscription rates start at $764.88 billed annually. A monthly subscription is also available at $85 per month/per state.

Do you post plans and specifications?

We do offer plans and specifications and other project documents for viewing and download when they are available to us electronically. If the documents require a deposit or registration for use, we let you know where to obtain them. In either case, we always check specifications to confirm project components such as playground equipment, athletic flooring, swimming pool, etc. before assigning a project type.

What separates you from other data services?

Unlike CSN, other data services are not specialized, and attempt to cover the entire construction industry with a focus on general building trades. Parks and Recreation is just one of dozens of subsets which receive inadequate coverage. CSN was created with this in mind – to serve one subset of the construction industry very well. The fact that we have in-house reporting staff also sets us apart – most of our competitors off-shore their research operations which has a negative impact on data quality. In addition to all of this, our subscriptions are priced significantly lower than all major competitors.

Do you only report on projects that are out to bid?

No. In addition to current solicitations including Bids, RFQ’s and RFP’s, we also report on projects in the pre-design and design stages including pertinent contact information at each stage such as architect, engineer, construction manager etc. Our contact information is current and accurate including email addresses for virtually every project stakeholder.

Are the projects updated?

Yes. We follow up on all solicitations to add design consultants and other stakeholders as they are selected or awarded. Project details are confirmed and bid schedules are updated.

Can I receive projects via email?

Yes. We will send you a weekly email report with all new solicitations and updated projects. Multiple state subscribers can provide several email addresses for distribution. Updates can also be tracked using the “my folder” feature on the website which provides light CRM functionality including saved notes.

How do I add an additional state to my current subscription?
